The California Residential Mitigation Program is offering $3,000 Earthquake Brace + Bolt (EBB) retrofit grants to help qualifying California homeowners complete a seismic retrofit to secure your home to its foundation.
EBB Grant Program Qualifications
An EBB retrofit helps homeowners lessen potential damage to their houses during an earthquake by "bracing" the crawl space, when necessary, and "bolting" the foundation to the house's frame. This helps prevent the house from sliding or toppling off its foundation during an earthquake.
- You own and live in the house;
- Your house was built before 1980;
- Your house has wood framed construction;
- Your house has a raised foundation or crawl space under the house;
- You have not already completed a brace and bolt retrofit.

Supplemental Grant
EBB is also offering a Supplemental Grant to homeowners with a household annual income of $89,040 or less as funding permits.
